10 Easy Easter Projects for the Kids

Vanessa Meloy

Hi Dapper Decorators!

There are so many great activities you can do with the kids in the lead up to Easter - here are my favourites!

1.  Tie Dyed Easter Eggs:

Back in my day it was food colouring or drawing on your egg with thick black texture!  These days we are spoilt for choice with heaps of food safe options.  Check out these Tie Dyed easter eggs using Wilton gel colours... http://www.wilton.com/tie-dyed-easter-eggs/WLPROJ-8038.html#q=Tie-Dyed-Easter-Eggs&start=1

2. Shimmering Easter Eggs:

These shimmering Easter Eggs are covered in edible spray paint!  They are easy to do, the kids can help and everyone will be super impressed at the Easter Breakfast table... http://www.wilton.com/shimmering-easter-eggs/WLPROJ-8036.html

 3. Pearl Dust Painted Easter Eggs:

Why not take the painted hard boiled egg to the next level with these pearl dust painted easter eggs!... http://www.wilton.com/pearl-dust-painted-easter-eggs/WLPROJ-8037.html

4. Doodled Easter Eggs:

As I mentioned before, back in my day we decorated our eggs with which-ever thick black texter was lying around.  Thankfully these days we have these edible markers which are 100% safe!  Plus they write well on fondant, icing, cookies etc (so you can use them long after Easter)... http://www.wilton.com/doodled-easter-eggs/WLPROJ-8035.html

5. Egg nest cupcakes:

This is a great gift idea instead of the traditional chocolate Easter egg.  Get your older kids to help bake the cupcakes or pipe the "nest" and get the younger kids to place the eggs.  The next could either be done with a #2D Wilton Tip or the standard Multi-tip.  Fun for all!... http://www.kidspot.com.au/kitchen/recipes/egg-nest-cupcakes-4123?ref=group_collection_view%2Ceaster

6. Easter cookies:

Another great alternative to giving out chocolate eggs at Easter time, these adorable cookies can be bundled up in cello bags with a few small choclate eggs and given to kids friends.  Don't forget to check out our great range of easter cookie cutters... http://www.kidspot.com.au/kitchen/recipes/easter-bunny-iced-cookies-3413?ref=group_collection_view%2Ceaster

7. Kit Kat & M&M cake:

Here is a great project for older kids using fondant, buttercream and an assortment of choccies!  A bit more challenging than the other suggestions but definitely achievable!... http://www.thecollegiatebaker.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

8. Wax-Resist Egg Decorating

Another take on the traditional egg decorating, once again using Wilton Gel Colours... http://www.marthastewart.com/908197/wax-resist-egg-dyeing-techniques

9. Cupcakes Surprise!

Give people these cute cupcakes and they'll be like, thanks for the cupcake and then BOOM surprise celebratory insides.  Make these with Wilton's cupcake corer... http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/peeps-chick-surprise-inside-cupcakes/840aaa83-e0e6-4cb5-a578-ec75b412eb60
